Nestled in the heart of rural Godfrey Illinois, Whispering Woods B&B/Retreat Center is a luxurious, peaceful home for you to enjoy. Large rooms, beautiful common areas, luxurious bedrooms, spa like bathrooms and serenity galore… all yours to enjoy.
Surrounded by farmland, trees and the beauty of nature, Whispering Woods is located in Madison County Illinois in the township of Godfrey, about 35 miles from the St. Louis, MO International Airport.
Whispering Woods is rented as a complete retreat venue. Your group of up to 10 rents the whole house!

Arrival at 10:00am on Thursday
Check-out by 3:00 pm on Sunday.

Wednesday evening, prior to the Thursday morning retreat start is also available for groups desiring an evening arrival. Additional night stays available through Monday night with a Tuesday 10:00 am check-out.

With a limited number of retreat dates, we are adding names to our waiting list in case dates become available.
Current groups have the first right of refusal on their same weekend for the following year. When openings happen due to any group not rebooking for whatever reason the waiting list will be contacted in the order groups were added to the list.
In September of 2019 we opened the doors of Whispering Woods to our first guests, a retreat with the wonderful Linda McGehee. The sewing machines hummed, laughter filled the air and sewing techniques were learned by all.
We have had quilting retreats, chocolate making parties, Cricut and cutting machine crafting events, birthday parties, memorial services, friends weekends and more. We would love to welcome your group, just email me and let’s start planning!
We have 5 bedrooms, and although 3 of them have 2 queen beds, each room is limited to 2 guest for your comfort and convenience.
Whispering Woods is luxurious and serene. It features hardwood floors, custom architecture, and is open and inviting. Enjoy the wonderful outdoors on 2 oversized decks at the back of the house. The upper deck allows you to overlook the peaceful back yard, and its wooded surrounding. The lower deck is perect for enjoying a shaded area next to the built in pool. And the front porch is the perfect place to enjoy our beautiful sunsets!

Quiet Hours 10pm-7am All events and/or parties must be approved prior to making your reservation. Note: No loud and disorderly events allowed. Small gatherings of people who respect each other and our property are welcome. Even though our rooms are large, and there are beds for up to 4 people in some rooms, a maximum of 2 people per room is allowed. Two of the rooms can be set up with one King Bed, or 2 Extra Long Single Beds.

Where is Whispering Woods Retreat Center?
We are located in Madison County Illinois, in the Township of Godfrey IL, 35 miles from the St. Louis MO international airport.
How do I reserve dates for my group?
To make a reservation, email Margaret@VirtualSewingGuild.net with the dates you are looking for. Once we get your request, we will reach out to you to finalize the reservation providing there isn’t already pending reservations on those dates.
What payments are accepted?
All deposit payments will be made through PayPal. An invoice for a non-refundable deposit of $500 will be emailed to you along with a rental agreement. The deposit must be paid and the rental agreement signed to lock in your dates. The deposit and a scanned copy of the rental agreement must be received within 7 days of issue or another group may reserve the dates you have requested.
Check, money order and PayPal may be used to pay the balance due. The balance must be paid in full 45 days prior to your check in date. One person must be in charge of all correspondence and all payments for your group.
Will I need to climb stairs during the retreat?
Yes, the “main event area” is located on the lower level, along with 2 bedrooms and bathrooms. 2 other bedrooms, the dining room some of the other “common areas” are located on the first floor. The 5th bedroom and loft common area are located on the second floor.
Are the meals provided?
Breakfast is provided each morning. You will have access to 1 full kitchen and 1 kitchenette for you to prepare any other meals you would like to eat at the retreat center during your stay. Bakeware, crockpots, coffee pots, dishes, utensils, dish clothes, silverware and dish towels are all provided. All you need to do is provide the food. (Please remember to bring ALL ingredients including spices)
How many people can stay?
Whispering Woods will host 10 people. There are 5 guest bedrooms each with 2 beds. There are a total of 4 showers for these 5 rooms. The retreat center is a flat fee. No unpaid visitors or “day campers” beyond the 10 people under contract are allowed.
What if we have less than 10?
The house is rented as a whole, and the price is the same whether you have 2 people or 10. You will want to fill your group for the most economical rate per person.
What time is check-in/check-out?
Our base retreat is a 10am Thursday check-in and a 3:00 Sunday check-out.
Are children allowed?
All guests must be at least 18 years of age.
Are pets allowed?
A small dog, Tinkerbell, lives on the premises, however no other pets are allowed.
